'Dubai English Speaking School started using Phoenix in October of this academic year. We were impressed by its ease of use and its thoroughness in enabling us to use a fully integrated package for timetabling, pupil records, reporting to parents, daily attendance, tracking pupil assessment data and finance. The web based system allows teachers to work at home on school reports and assessment data. The training was comprehensive and using has allowed us to be much more efficient and streamlined in our school administration. Using it has been a great step forward for us.'

'We had been using Phoenix Gold for many years and felt that we had outgrown a purely on-site system and needed to move on to a web-based MIS which would give us more flexibility and easier access to our data.  Also, looking to the future, we will need to create links with our LEA and other relevant outside agencies, to allow real-time updating of pupil information.  We have only been running for a term and are not yet using it to its full potential but we have lots of plans for the future, our next step is to link to our learning platform.

On a more practical note, I work mainly with the Assessment area and have been impressed with the ease of use and, most of all, with the speed that generates even the largest reports.  Teaching staff have also been impressed by the simplicity of entering data via marksheets and, particularly, that they can immediately view and print statistics for their class from the marks entered. 

Finally, a word about the Phoenix helpdesk; they’ve been very helpful and very patient whenever we’ve needed to contact them.  I know that I’ve asked some very daft ‘beginners’ question but they’ve always been brilliant, quick to respond and pleasant to deal with.'

'e¹ has allowed us as a school to store assessment information centrally and moved the recording of these grades from pieces of paper in the staff room that were completed by hand. Staff now have the freedom to complete them in their own teaching rooms or if they prefer, they can complete them at home. This is the first step on our road towards online reporting.'

'We were pleased with the ease with which our staff used e¹ for statutory registration from ‘live’ e¹ day. We also felt that, for the majority of our staff who were using electronic registration for the first time, and not wanting to overload staff , that we wouldn’t offer everyone training on the Reporting module. However, in spite of this, within a couple of weeks we found reports that had been created by some of our teaching staff. 

Marksheets have been used by all teaching staff for Summer assessment entries. Form tutors have used the Multiple Comment entry option to enable them to view all subject data for their students and enter their own Comments online. This data has been merged into Word templates in order to create our Annual and Tutor Reports.  

Attachments to Pupil records have allowed us to attach IEPs ( now paperless) and scanned College reports. Working in collaboration with external agencies to exchange data electronically we would hope that use of this option will expand in the foreseeable future. 

Using both of these methods we have reduced our paper output considerably. In the case of Annual Reports the production of paper draft reports for form tutor use was not necessary. As a Bronze eco-school, working towards our Silver accreditation this is a very important step for us.'

'We needed to easily extract information from a central system that could help our staff with their reporting duties, particularly when the bi-annual census is due.  Having 440 schools means that Norfolk has to manage a huge amount of data, a centralised system just makes our lives a lot easier.  also gives us a tool to be able to quickly recognise when a school is underperforming and help to address how the Local Authority can step in and offer better support. In addition e¹ not only delivers all the functionality of a mainstream MIS but it also provides solutions to new government initiatives such as Real Time Reporting and at no extra cost.'
